On the afternoon of April 7, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI) together with the National Geographic Learning (NGL) signed an MoU. The MoU aims to enhance the quality of the university’s programs in accordance with international standards.

Representatives from HUFI were Dr. Thai Doan Thanh - Vice President of HUFI; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tan Hiep – Head of Office of International Cooperation and Postgraduate Affairs; Dr. Tran Tin Nghi – Dean of Faculty of Foreign Language, and Mr. Nguyen Van Dat – Vice Dean. On the NGL side, there were Mr. Michael Cahill - Chief Executive Officer of ELT Asia; Mr. Luong Duy Anh - Managing Director of NGL in Vietnam; and Ms. Nguyen Pham Mai Tram - an education consultant in Vietnam.

 

In his speech, Vice President Thai Doan Thanh emphasized the importance of teaching and learning foreign languages in the context of international integration, with challengies from new technologies such as ChatGPT.

According to the agreement, NGL give HUFI a support and consultation on English language teaching materials, specialized, and reference books for the university. NLG also support training, conferences, and events to support lecturers and communication.

NGL is a subsidiary of Cengage Learning, the world’s leading education publishing house for English language teaching, libraries, and reference materials. The cooperation agreement between HUFI and NGL is expected to offer a lot of benefits to students and lecturers of the university, especially in the context of Vietnam’s move towards a digital economy and integration.
