On the afternoon of November 10, 2023, in Da Nang, the Ceremony to summarize the National Science and Technology Awards for University Students in 2023 took place. The event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, and the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations.
The Science and Technology Awards for University Students in 2023 attracted the participation of 103 universities nationwide with a total of 481 projects across 6 fields (1. Natural Sciences; 2. Engineering and Technology; 3. Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences; 4. Agricultural Sciences; 5. Social Sciences; 6. Humanities). The final round took place at Da Nang University from November 8 to November 10, 2023, featuring 85 projects from 45 universities.

The Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) excelled by achieving 1 First Prize in the field of Engineering and Technology, 1 Second Prize in the field of Agricultural Sciences, 1 Third Prize in the field of Engineering and Technology, 1 Third Prize in the field of Agricultural Sciences, and 5 Consolation Prizes. This marks the second consecutive year that students from the HUIT have been honored with the first prize in the field of Engineering and Technology, a strong confirmation of the strength of the university with an applied orientation.

- The project "Nghiên cứu quy trình phân tích tính thật giả của chất béo sữa bằng phương pháp HPLC" by the student group: Thach Kien Thi Linh Da, Nguyen Ngoc Quy; Supervisor: Dr. Nguyen Van Anh - Faculty of Food Technology, excellently surpassed over 100 projects in the same field from universities nationwide to achieve the First Prize in the field of Engineering and Technology - National Science and Technology Award for University Students in 2023.
The HUIT student group was honored with the First Prize in the field of Engineering and Technology and received a Commendation Certificate from the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The project originated from a practical idea, as milk and dairy products are becoming increasingly popular and essential in daily diets. One of the key components determining the structure, flavor, and nutritional properties of these products is milk fat. However, milk fat is an expensive ingredient, leading manufacturers to tend towards using modern technology to substitute (wholly or partially) milk fat with cheaper foreign fats without the necessary labeling.
The project has developed a simple and rapid analysis process to detect the authenticity of milk fat using high-performance liquid chromatography in reverse phase combined with chemometric methods. The proposed procedure serves as an effective tool for detecting and alerting market regulatory agencies, consumers, and relevant parties about the authenticity of dairy products. Based on the main results of the project, the student group successfully published the paper titled "Novel approach for determination of milk fat adulteration with non-milk fat by RP-HPLC" in the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, a Q1-ranked journal in the ISI category.
- The Second Prize in the field of Agricultural Sciences in 2023 was awarded to the project "Nghiên cứu quá trình thu nhận và đánh giá hoạt tính sinh học của fucoxanthin và lipid từ rong Sargassum oligocystum" by the student group: Thanh Hoang Phi Yen, Vo Phan Tuan Vu, Tran Thi Yen Nhi, Huynh Nguyen Chau Nhi, Pham Phuong Thao; Supervisor: MSc. Hoang Thi Ngoc Nhon - Faculty of Food Technology.
The HUIT student group was honored with the Second Prize in the field of Agricultural Sciences and received a Commendation Certificate from the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- The Third Prize in the field of Engineering and Technology in 2023 was awarded to the project "Nhận diện cử chỉ tay điều khiển cánh tay Robot" by the student group: Cao Quoc Khanh, Tran Le Phuoc; Supervisor: MSc. Tran Hoan - Faculty of Electrical and Electronics.
- The Third Prize in the field of Agricultural Sciences in 2023 was awarded to the project "Khảo sát khả năng hạ đường huyết của cao chiết rễ cây tầm bóp Physalis angulata L. trên mô hình chuột nhắt trắng Swiss albino tiểu đường" by the student group: Ngo Van Đuc, Truong Ngoc Thien Kim, Bui Nguyen Ngoc Ngan, Nguyen Ngoc Ngoan, Dinh Thuy Ngoc Anh; Supervisor: MSc. Tran Hoang Ngau - Faculty of Biology and Environment.

The project "Nghiên cứu chế tạo màng polymer ăn được trên cơ sở tinh bột ngô oxy hóa ứng dụng bảo quản dâu Đà Lạt" by the student group: Bui Thi Kieu Oanh, Nguyen Minh Man, Vo Ngoc Man, Le Ngoc Na, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diem; Supervisors: Dr. Le Thi Hong Thuy and Dr. Nguyen Thi Luong - Faculty of Chemical Engineering.
2. The project "Nghiên cứu cải tiến màng polymer tinh bột sắn bằng phụ gia kháng khuẩn tự nhiên định hướng bảo quản nho Ninh Thuận" by the student group: Nguyen Tien Dũng, Mai Thi Hoai Thuong, Vo Nguyen Minh Duc, Vo Minh Thao, Pham Huy Vu; Supervisors: Dr. Le Thi Hong Thuy and Dr. Nguyen Thi Luong - Faculty of Chemical Engineering.
3. The project "Mô hình xe mô tô chống ngập nước" by the student group: Tran Le Phuoc, Cao Quoc Khanh; Supervisor: MSc. Tran Hoan - Faculty of Electrical and Electronics.
4. The project "Xây dựng ứng dụng hỗ trợ điểm danh sinh viên online bằng camera tại lớp học hoặc tham dự hội thảo của Khoa/Trường" by the student: Nguyen Nhat Truong; Supervisor: MSc. Ngo Duong Ha - Faculty of Information Technology.
5. The project "Ứng dụng mô hình CANSLIM trong lựa chọn danh mục đầu tư" by the student group: Nguyen Van Vu, Nguyen Tran Thanh Thanh, Nguyen Nguyet Vy, Nguyen Ba Nhat, Chau Bich Nhu; Supervisors: Dr. Ho Thanh Tri, MSc. Tran Nguyen Anh Phuong - Faculty of Finance and Accounting.

The annual Science and Technology Awards for University Students, organized within higher education institutions, aim to seek and foster scientific research among students while promoting research activities at universities. This has significantly contributed to the widespread influence of student scientific research activities across universities nationwide, both in terms of quantity and quality. Many award-winning research projects by students have received financial sponsorship and support from organizations and businesses, both domestically and internationally. This support has facilitated the establishment of startup enterprises. Numerous research projects have also yielded meaningful results, leading to publications in reputable scientific journals, both nationally and internationally.
