On July 1, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI) officially changed its name to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) according to Decision No. 789/QĐ-TTg by the Prime Minister of the Government.

With its new name - HUIT, the university aims to provide multi-disciplinary and multi-degree education, focusing on application and practice, to supply high-quality human resources for the industrialization and modernization of the country.

In 1986, it was upgraded to become the Ho Chi Minh City Food Industry High School

In 2001, it was upgraded to become Ho Chi Minh City College of Food Industry

In 2010, the college officially became Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry

And starting from July 1, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry has a new name, which is the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade. This marks a new milestone in the development of interdisciplinary and multi-level education, aiming to achieve the strategic goal of becoming a leading university in the Vietnamese education system.
