On the afternoon of September 28, 2022, Mr. WATANABE Nobuhiro Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, paid a courtesy visit to Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI), along with Ms. MORIMOTO Emiko – Consul, and Mr. Mai Chi Hung – Assistant of the Economic Department.

Representative from the Office of International Cooperation and Postgraduate Affairs introduced the products that are researched and produced by HUFI lecturers to Mr. WATANABE Nobuhiro

At the meeting, Mr. WATANABE Nobuhiro congratulated HUFI on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. He also stated that in recent years, the Japanese Government is paying extra attention to promote the production and development of agriculture, forestry, fishery and food industry. Therefore, he really look forward to further cooperation with HUFI in the upcoming years.

HUFI’s President also shared that HUFI currently have more than 28,000 students with 32 undergraduate majors, 10 master programs, and 03 doctoral programs, divided into 12 faculties to manage. Among which, Food Science and Technology is the major that has contributed to HUFI lots of outstanding researches and academic training results, and is one of the majors that are attracting many recruiters.

On this occasion, Mr. WATANABE Nobuhiro also expressed his hope that HUFI will jointly organize some ceremony activities to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam in 2023.

On behalf of the faculty and staffs of the University, HUFI’s President – Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hoan expressed his pleasure and respect to welcome the Japanese Consul General. He also expressed his wish that the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and HUFI will cooperate more in the near future to create opportunities for Japanese businesses and schools to connect with HUFI, so that HUFI’s lecturers and students can have more access to different kinds of scholarships, Japanese language classes, and job opportunities from Japan.
